The public is welcome to attend the second annual "Snowflakes on Market" lighting ceremony. The Path of Gold lights that run the length of Market Street from Steuart to Castro streets were originally installed in 1916 and cast a distinctive amber glow on one of the city's main thoroughfares. 116 giant illuminated snowflakes will adorn 58 historic lampposts. This year 22 new snowflakes were added to this on-going holiday program. Each year new snowflakes will be added until all 232 lampposts are fitted with holiday snowflakes. The project is being lead by the Market Street Association in collaboration with the SF Convention & Visitors Bureau.
